  "Bringing People & Opportunity Together!"


CCDI or The Center for Community Development Inc. was Incorporated in 1990 as a nonprofit Virginia Corporation. Its mission is 


"to be a catalyst for bringing people and opportunity together through community involvement & revitalization".  


Formerly known as Portsmouth Community Development Group (PCDG),  Microenterprise development as well as Creative Arts, was later incorporated into  CCDI's plan for community development CCDI has helped put hundreds of families in houses, 400 businesses grown and had over 1500 children come directly through youth programs 

In 2003, the Earthsong Division. Youth Wellness & the Arts evolved. EarthSong Division works in and out of the classroom, care facilities, and with youth and educators. EarthSong Farm a 60 acre Nature Sanctuary in the western Virginia mountains incorporates mindfulness, nature, arts, & culture providing opportunities for young people to learn skills for positive social engagement and sustainable living. 

Today CCDI  has been awarded and recognized on local, state, and national level having built homes, jobs, and families in multiple neighborhoods throughout Virginia's  Hampton Roads Region. The Board of Directors is comprised of community leaders, homeowners, small business entrepreneurs, bankers and volunteers. CCDI has partnerships with a variety of public and private organizations a unique attribute of a community development corporations (cdc's) to help citizens. 

CCDI's Objective:

to give the neighborhoods back to their residents through rehabilitation, economic development, education, and exposure to art and culture.
